Single vineyard

A single vineyard plot in the heart of Txorierri valley in Bizkaia. The vines are 15-year-old vines planted to revitalize the ancient varietal Hondarrabi Beltza. We have 8 different clones of this variety that was about to disappear, however little by little is recovering the place it should have never left. The proximity to the Atlantic sea, and its south east orientation with steep slopes reaching a 20% incline make ASTOREKA estate an inimitable plot. Its soils and the ancestral variety Hondarrabi Beltza make possible to create Ziaboga Txakoli Beltza, a unique wine, which stands out for its freshness and very marked character.

Tasting Notes

Light cherry color with purple hues. High aromatic intensity showcasing the Atlantic climate from the origin of the estate Astoreka. This single vineyard shows the typicity of the varietal Hondarrabi Beltza with herbaceous aromas highlighting its fruity scents of currants and raspberries. Light bodied with a soft and velvety mid palate. The sensation on your palate is a perfect balance between fruitiness and acidity, with a long- lasting balsamic finish. A wine that allures you to enjoy a second glass!

Food Pairing

Great wine to serve slightly chilled and pairs well with seasonal vegetables, charcuterie, pork and poultry dishes, in addition to my favorite dish rice or risotto with clams. Also good for fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel and bluefish.
